小镇青年念本和狗娃从小情同手足，在他们到大城市打拼的过程中遇到了许多事业、情感上的挫折与困惑。念本在女友小微等人的影响下重新找到了自己的方向，而狗娃却一度误入歧途，最终才得以醒悟。。"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North.
